This is a shout-out to Minirig, a portable speaker which is made in England. When I was in the market for a new portable speaker which I could take with me from studio to kitchen to garden - there was only one brand which kept being recommended to me. Minirig.
They are all the more fascinating because they’re manufactured in the UK by a small company set up by two former students who started making portable speakers just for their own entertainment. Friends wanted them and the business began.
The two friends Tom Tucker and David Trotter both vowed from the beginning to keep the manufacturing based in the UK, even if that meant accepting lower margins
Their reputation has spread organically and it is not hard to hear why - small, portable and loud the Minirig 4 has over 100 hours of battery life, and the simple, curved design - I chose the polished ion - belies the sweet sound and the very loud volume. Very happymaking.
