The decaffeination process involves placing the hand-sorted coffee beans in a solution of water and ethyl acetate - this is a naturally occurring compound produced from the fermentation of sugar cane,
Processing is done in a James Bond style facility, Descafecol, located right at the heart of the Colombian coffee region. This coffee does not have to be transported around the world to have the caffeine removed and keeps the carbon footprint to a minimum.
This is our third year of supporting community interest company of importers Raw Material, they pay the farmers a sum which is over double the regular market price for the beans and work to create a sustainable infrastructure for the all the families involved in coffee production.
